Family Vacation to Charleston, SC...Behind the scenes!

We had a wonderful time visiting my sister Jennifer on Sullivans Island! My younger sister Mandi also went along with us! We sooo enjoy our long talks in the van with Mandi! What made the trip even more special is that my Dad and Pop (86yrs.) drove over from Alabama as well! My Dad actually went to high school on James Island, so it was neat seeing his "old stomping grounds"! He was actually voted "Mr. James Island"! We loved being all together with my family even if were for just a short time!! We also enjoyed a quick visit with an dear friend from my high school and college! Her girls and home were lovely!

There was a tropical storm off the coast, but Mike said that just made for "BIGGER WAVES"! The children did have blast "surfing" the waves!

One of our most memorable nights was playing mini-golf and ordering~in pizza!

Johnny really missed home and every night he would say he wanted his "juicy" bed!

Fun times ~ Great memories!

May God receive the glory for all the great things He has done!

It's All Fun and Games!

Coolin' Off in Charleston, SC

Blessed to be Celebrating the 4th

We started out waking up on the 4th to see the sunrise (on Lilly's wish of things to do :)) on the roof, then out for breakfast, followed by a parade and snow cones and then home for a fun visit from Aaron, Ashley and Grace. We set out that evening to see the fireworks and set off a few of our own! Saturday, we met up with the family and grilled out at our traditional Stone Mtn. trip! The laser show brings back memories and creates new ones! We had fun celebrating Hannah and Mike's Birthday. It was bittersweet watching John be able to experience being thrown into the air and caught by his Daddy and then to see how much the other children had grown...their days of being "thrown" are memories. All the cousins had so much fun together and truly look forward to this time together every year! John was so cute...one minute he was dancing like his cousins and the next, he was asleep (even through the fireworks :))! We all enjoy this time with the whole family...just being together! How grateful we are to live in this country!

A Hedge of Protection...

As Mike opened the door to go for a run on Saturday, a truck was in our front yard! We were all in the house, when a young man driving by had a seizure and ran off the road into our yard. How thankful we were to the Lord for His hedge up around us! We never knew how the Japanese Magnolia Tree (tulip tree) we planted sooo many years before, was planted for a reason we could not yet see! You see, the driver's foot was still on the accelerator when we reached him and it was that tree that stopped his truck! The driver too was protected and recovered just fine. The tree has since been replaced, and we will always be grateful for His hedge of protection!
